Reading Spanish fairy tales is a very useful method that you can use to learn Spanish well.

Through these short stories in Spanish whose plots you already know and have previously read in English, you can better recognise new terms and practise the language.

We particularly recommend Spanish fairy tales, as they have a very simple style and choice of words. And, at the same time are stories that you already know.

LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD IN SPANISH

The fairy tale about the very famous little girl with the red cape is also widely used and read in Spanish-speaking territories, although called by a different name – Caperucita roja.

Everyone already knows her story:

In which -due to a journey to her grandmother’s house- she has to go through the forest and its thousand temptations, before she can reach her beloved grandmother and return home to her mother.

CINDERELLA IN SPANISH

Few people have never heard of Cinderella and her amazing story, which goes from the ‘stables’ to the ‘stars’. So it is very easy to find her Spanish version and practise this language.

Spanish speakers call her ‘Cenicienta‘, but her story remains the same: that of a young girl, slave to the perfidy of her stepsisters and stepmother, who thanks to her good heart and a bit of magic realises her dream of finding true love.

RAPUNZEL IN SPANISH

This much-loved story, known by young and old alike. Also, it is present in the memory of all of us, thanks to its spectacular details in the Spanish world.

The story, in fact, which is called ‘Raponchigo‘, is much loved by Spanish teenage girls, so you will find it very difficult not to find a version that suits you and your needs.

The story tells of a young maiden with very long and beautiful golden hair, who has been locked up in a high tower in the middle of the forest all her life.

One day, a young prince finds the girl’s dwelling and confronts a wicked witch in order to rescue the girl to a happily ever after.

SNOW WHITE AND THE SEVEN DWARFS IN SPANISH

This is also one of the titles that you can easily find online (when it comes to Spanish fairy tales for children).

No matter what language we speak or the country we come from, everyone has heard at least once in their life the fairy tale of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, or, as it is known in Spanish, ‘Blancanieve y los Siete Enanitos‘.

For anyone unfamiliar with this famous story, it is about a beautiful girl. Who, because of her wonderful appearance, is banished from the kingdom she inhabits and forced to live in the woods. Together with little dwarfs who help and protect her.

THUMBELINA IN SPANISH

Here is another fable that is very famous all over the world. But, definitely has also achieved particular success in Spanish-speaking countries.

This fable, known in the Hispanic world as ‘Pulgarcito‘, could be the right way to go, so that you can practise your Spanish and become more and more fluent.

Listen and rediscover the adventure of this child born under strange circumstances -tiny as a nail- who tries to survive in a world of giants that can get him into trouble or defeat him.

THE PRINCESS AND THE FROG IN SPANISH

This is another of the many fairy tales that are also available in a Spanish language version. So you can search for its text to read and hear it in Spanish.
