“I LOVE YOUR FACE” IN SPANISH
When you learn Spanish, you may be wondering how to say certain things. Yes, you would have never come even close when thinking there were so many face part words. I need to admit the search was as big as the surprise.
As you can see, face in Spanish is said cara. Some people may use the word rostro. The difference is that cara refers more to the body part, while rostro seems to have to do with the countenance, the expression, the emotions that face could transmit. So, even though cara and rostro may mean the same, do not use them too happy-triggerishly as such.
Then, you can get to hear “Me encanta tu cara” (I love your face) but also “Me encanta tu rostro” and finally understand the shades of each compliment and go blushing the same.
When it comes to “face make up” in Spanish, you may be a lady getting ready for work, going out or having a date, or your gender does not really matter that much because you have a career in a circus. Anyway, make-up translates as maquillaje. The first thing that could come to mind is el lápiz labial or pintalabios (lipstick), while some apply a bit of colorete (blush) to liven up their cheeks. And if you do work in a circus or as a child party entertainer, do not forget spreading your white base coat first and foremost.
FACE PARTS IN SPANISH AND THEIR FUNCTIONS
As we are presented with this new vocabulary, we could use some Spanish verbs we discovered in our previous articles, such as escuchar, comer, beber, oler, etc., to give some examples.
- Veo con los ojos (I see with my eyes)
- Hueles con la nariz (You smell with your nose)
- Comemos con la boca (We eat with our mouth)
- Escucháis con los oídos/las orejas (You hear with your ears)
- La barba y el bigote no hacen nada en particular además de ser adorno (Beards and a mustache are not especially helpful apart from making you look good)
